2001 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This was quite oaky still from the first taste and only gave way a little after another hour. All the telltale oak flavors/aromas were there… vanilla, cedar, tobacco. It was a little more red fruited and distinctly garnet with very little sign of its 21+ years. Nice medium legs. Offers a big, smoky, herb, black currant, tobacco, spice box, and barbecue spice-scented bouquet. A broad, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, sweet, jammy flavors with plenty of oak.
There is moderate sediment in the bottle. Oak tannins also a little obvious. this is a little balanced but not bitingly hard as it was when it was new. Amazing with food (Crystals lasagna and orange dark chocolate.) Under the careful cellaring say it has aged quite well!

We purchased the case when it was new. Pricing is $99.00 to $600.00. Amazing wine. Just be careful with the cork. It’s brittle but not bad.
