2016 Last Chance, Sangiovese (Alexander Valley)

Only 866 cases of this wine is available if you believe the label

Definitely a big food wine!  Tannic and dry but not Gobi Dessert dry.

The fruit is not first and forward but distinct berry flavors are present…reminds me of dried strawberries perhaps. Well balanced with a surprisingly mellow finish.

Paired with Cheesy Chicken Cauliflower Skillet (recipe credit Siobhan McDonagh)it was great. The wine did not overpower the meal. A mushroom I’m my dinner brought the earthiness forward. The sweetness of the mozzarella in my dinner was a surprise when drinking the wine with a bite of food giving the sweetness a little nudge.

Lovely red and would drink it again (of course)
