Let’s talk Gratsi boxed wine!

I was curious about this wine which hit my feed. The most intriguing…SUGAR FREE.

First of all, yes…it’s a boxed wine. For the price, it’s not bad. The box is about 4 bottles for 50$. That’s $12.50 a bottle. Not bad!

When I ordered, shipping was fast and came by our trusted UPS driver, who I owe a review to😁

I ordered the Red Blend.

Grapes:

🍇 Cabernet Sauvignon

🍇Merlot

🍇Syrah

🍇Malbec

🍇Petit Syrah

🍇Cabernet Franc

The Experience: My first tasting was great!

The nose:  there is a bit of spice and some floral notes. (I have a very sensitive nose so I pickup a little more than most. But if you want to, smell a flower like a dandelion to catch it). It has a bit of an herbal quality to the nose and dandelion has a herbal quality to the smell, but it also has a bit of a green scent to it I’ve been trying to figure out what I can smell.  Theresa are also notes of vanilla, dark fruit and a hint of spice.

Color: a nice even red with a hint of purple. Beautiful really.

And it’s got legs! Those are the heavy drips down the glass when you swirl. These are nice and heavy mostly due to the 13.5 ABV.

Taste: It’s a well balanced wine. The makers have managed to make a great red blend using some well established grapes.

Light bodied wine easy on the palate. Dry, but not the Sahara. No surprise given the low residual sugars (.2g/5oz serving, per Gratsi).

Dark fruit/berry forward flavor, with berries fading to a somewhat spicy, tobacco and vanilla finish. Medium acidity and medium tannins.

Tried some fun and paired with chocolate bringing out more of that chocolate flavor. Truffle potato chips brought out the mushroom/earthiness.

I definitely suggest trying this with a meat or pasta red sauce dish!

Here’s the best part. My friend Crystal reacts to wine. Especially domestic wine. She gets flushed, stuffy and her joints hurt after a couple of glasses of wine.

After a couple of glasses she was great.  Very minimal flushing and no stuffiness or joint pain!

Gratsi is a very well packaged boxed wine with amazing flavor and not expensive.

🍷 Vegan & Gluten Free

Wine is naturally gluten-free, but some practices — including using gluten during the fining process and aging it in oak barrels sealed with wheat paste — may add tiny amounts of gluten and irritate sensitive persons.

Vegan:  As it is usually the ingredients within the fining agents that contain animal products, wines that are ‘unfined’ or ‘unfiltered’ are more likely to be vegan. If a wine is labelled as such, it means that the wine has not undergone this process, producing a more natural wine without any of the animal byproducts.

Marketing quote: By working with carefully selected American vineyards, avoiding the 76 approved additives, sugars and inefficient packaging, Gratsi reminds us to live slow & live more. We believe that quality wine should be packaged efficiently and sustainably, and now it is.

Here are some numbers:

🍷Serving Size 5 fl. oz. ABV 13.0%. Calories 113.

Details: The grapes are all grown and produced in Washington state, within the greater Columbia River and Yakima Valleys. All are 100% vegan, grown and produced using sustainable growing methods. Their inspiration is the old world which they say, “so are our wines”.

From the producers website:With zero added sugars, minimal sulfites & no unnecessary additives, our wine is crafted to deliver pure enjoyment without the aftereffects. Our customers frequently tell us they can finally say ‘goodbye to headaches’ and experience wine the way it should be!”  Truth!  No allergic stuffy nose either.
